CMF Designer

About You:

You’re a creative CMF Designer with aspirations to help define the strategic palette development for use across a global product portfolio.  You are looking for an opportunity to join a best-in-class mechanical team to solve difficult problems, meet tight deadlines, and build amazing products, as well as assisting with designing for manufacturing. If you have a strong mechanical background,  combined with an acute eye for detail and you’re excited to be part of a young, cutting-edge technology company, then this job may be for you!

What You Will Do:

  • Create CMF (colour, material, finish) specifications for complex consumer type electronic products.
  • Research materials, component technologies, and advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Travel frequently to work with overseas suppliers.
  • Work with vendors to optimize the visual appearance and quality of complex consumer products as it relates to CMF.  
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process and finishing issues to optimize yields.

What You Need:

You have 8+ years of CMF experience including:  

  • A comprehensive understanding of how to design and specify high quality cosmetic components and cosmetic acceptance criteria.
  • An understanding and appreciation of the value of ID and how to balance technical requirements with product vision.
  • Hands-on expertise managing ODM/JDM partners through a development process.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple manufacturing processes and materials including injection moulding, machining, casting, and stamping.
  • Experience with various finishing processes including painting, plating, PVD, tumbling, and polishing.
  • Must have been a lead contributor on several full product development lifecycles from concept to delivery.
