Manufacturing Engineer (Intermediate)

About you:

An individual with a thirst for knowledge and all things manufacturing, you are at home creating and developing Manufacturing Systems and concepts from the ground up. You’re passionate about delivering amazing user and customer experiences. Highly organized and with the know how to clearly communicate with cross-functional teams both internal and external you will drive excellence across the organisation.

What you’ll do:

Your primary responsibility will be to define and support the product-specific manufacturing plan required for assembly, test, inspect and pack. You'll work in partnership with Mechanical and Electrical hardware and Supply Chain. This will include equipment, jig and fixture design, specification creation, directing and managing vendors, installation and qualification of suppliers, systems and equipment.

  • Create manufacturing process flow diagrams
  • Develop and implement the assembly, test and inspection processes into Manufacturing
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation
  • Lead and facilitate Continuous Improvement initiatives    
  • Use root cause analysis tools to resolve complex design and process related issues
  • Support activities around the bring up, Gauge R&R, and implementation of complex fixtures used in manufacturing
  • Optimize the manufacturing layout and process to meet overall throughput, quality, and cost targets
  • Provide technical support to the production teams, resolving issues that impact throughput and quality
  • Support manufacturing-related projects
  • Provide training and technical guidance to the production team

What you need:

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, or Quality/reliability related discipline
  • 5+ years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Experience introducing NPI products to Mass Production
  • Lean manufacturing practices (Kanban, Poke-Yoke, JIT, Value Stream Mapping)
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in working with high-volume contract manufacturers and an understanding of manufacturing needs, such as Dfx, process control and inspection standards
  • Comfortable working with electronic hardware, tools, fixtures, and gauges
