Optics Commodity Manager

About you:

You'll be responsible for sourcing optics and opto-electronic components to ensure adequate supply for the manufacturing of Thalmic Labs’ new products.  Central to this responsibility is to identify “best fit” long term strategic suppliers in this category, audit against appropriate benchmarks, and leverage market opportunities to obtain the best value (i.e., “best-in-class” supply stream costs) possible.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the development strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional budget execution and interfacing with suppliers/partners and internal stakeholders
  • Lead supply stream cost reduction efforts to achieve “best in class” supply costs. Lead efforts with suppliers, engineering, marketing, operations, and facilities to identify and realize material cost reduction and value-improvement opportunities
  • Actively participate in negotiation of Long Term Agreements with prospective suppliers and build alliances with strategic vendors
  • Manage the Suppliers within the given programs (Request for Quotes RFQ, change management, payment terms, etc.)
    • responsible for assigned commodities/plans and the respective cost reduction/savings target for them
    • Evaluate market conditions for their commodities, analyzes spend, and recommends alternate courses of action if necessary
    • Maintains supplier relationships to ensure capability of supply (i.e. capacity quality, service, etc.) is in alignment with the business needs

What you need:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration
  • A minimum of 5+ years related experience in procurement or manufacturing environments
  • Prior experience dealing with Optic suppliers
  • Experience in wearables
  • CPM Certification preferred
  • demonstrated analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal)
