RF Systems Engineer - Bluetooth

About You:

You’re an RF design engineer with strong analog skills and experience developing technically challenging products. You're a hands-on designer who has all the answers to the toughest RF and analog engineering problems. You’ve previously held senior roles developing successful consumer technologies and now you’re ready for the next challenge. If you're often referred to as “the expert,”  “the go to person for answers", and are a natural team player who wants to change the future of wearable tech, this may be the job for you!

What You Will Do:

In this role, you will focus on creating RF and analog solutions for our products while delivering manufacturable designs to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints. Specifically you will:

  • Be responsible for the RF implementation, primarily Bluetooth, in low power wearable designs.
  • Perform simulations, link budget analysis, design integration and optimization as well as verification/validation.
  • Own the RF portion of Thalmic products through all phases of development, compliance test, manufacturing test, product ramp and related sustaining activities.
  • Create solutions that would overcome multi-radio coexistence, desense or Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).
  • Be responsible for RF tuning and manufacturing calibration.
  • Generate related schematics, layout review, and work with other groups, such as mechanical team and manufacturing, to ensure consistent RF performance.
  • Rapid prototype and model critical areas to mitigate design risk.
  • Support component selection and liaising with various component suppliers.
  • Create related specifications, test procedures, verification reports and test fixture design.

What You Need:

  • 5+ years experience designing RF and analog electronics
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in wearable wireless design in areas of BT/WiFi as well as other RF modulation techniques with focussed detail on design for manufacturing
  • Exceptional analog design skills for small signal acquisition
  • Proficient in using RF related lab equipment including VNA’s, spectrum analyzers, power meters as well as resulting data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of required RF related industry standards
  • Strong simulation and analysis background

Bonus Points For:

  • Antenna design/interfacing with antenna designers
  • CDMA/UMTS/LTE RF design experience: Front End, PA’s, band filters, antenna switch, transceiver and baseband chipsets
  • Experience with optical sensors, such as photodiodes / phototransistors
  • Knowledgeable about flex PCB design
  • Cadence/Orcad schematic capture and layout tool experience
